B+BTec steel anchors: What they are and are not suitable for
Our steel anchors are perfect for applications where you want to fix something securely, but the load isn't very heavy. For example, they are suitable for securing light to medium-duty objects in concrete. Think of shelves, handrails, or machinery.
It is important to note that these anchors are not suitable for heavy-duty constructions, such as supporting large beams or other load-bearing elements. For such applications, special fastening systems are required that are specifically made to carry heavy loads.
How do B+BTec's steel anchors work?
Steel anchors work by expanding within the borehole as you tighten the nut. This causes them to grip firmly in the concrete. This ensures the anchor stays securely in place and your object is safely fixed. When tightening, stresses are created in the concrete, which is why it is important to place the anchors at a certain distance from each other and from the edge of the concrete. This reduces the chance of cracks in the concrete.
A significant advantage of these anchors is that they can be loaded immediately after installation. This is in contrast to chemical anchors, which first need to cure before they reach their full strength. This makes them ideal for tasks where speed and immediate use are important.
