Derailment protection with Hammer Capsules

HSL South

The Situation

De-railing protection has been installed on various sections of the High Speed Line route. If the train de-rails, the de-railing protection must prevent the de-railed train from ending up on the adjacent track. This protection consists of a concrete kerb that runs between and parallel to the rails. The concrete kerb is 17 cm. high and 50 cm. wide.

The Project

The reinforcing bar chosen was a diameter of 12 mm in strength class FEB 500. This reinforcing bar was installed at a depth of 150 mm. As this reinforcing bar could not be installed as a cast-in provision, the decision was made to use a post-installed reinforcing bar bonded with HaC hammer capsules.

To guarantee a total filling of the bore hole at the chosen setting depth, B+BTec developed a special pattern on very short notice with the correct composition and volume. During subsequent tests, the load values set by the client were effortlessly achieved.

The required weekly production and supply of 25,000 special hammer capsules also posed no problem. In total, over 400,000 capsule were supplied for this project.

“The weekly production and delivery of 25,000 special hammer cartridges presented no problem whatsoever.”
